Schedule

This course, designed for elder learners, covers an ambitious amount of information and tools. The main learning objectives are:

  • Get to know privacy & security options (Chrome browser & Google account)
  • Discover ways in which tech can make our everyday lives easier and more enjoyable, especially in the areas of financial security, social engagement, creative expression, and civic participation.
  • Identify how AI intersects in various aspects of our lives

If you are a senior citizen curious about technology and interested in learning how you can use it in ways that fit your needs, this course is for you.

The class is scheduled to meet 10 times on these dates: 10/14, 10/16, 10/21, 10/23, 10/28, 10/30, 11/4, 11/6, 11/13, 11/18.

Nauset Adult & Community Ed is partnering with Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands to present this course. There is no fee to register. We encourage participants to attend all sessions, which will be offered twice a week for the first 4 weeks. Participants will receive a textbook they can keep, and a loaned laptop computer to use for the duration of the class.

About the instructor: Elenita Muniz is a certified Senior Planet trainer who has been leading classes on the lower Cape for three years. She began her career as a corporate trainer decades ago with The Travelers Insurance Company. She notes, “the difference between a teacher and a trainer is that there’s no bell curve in training: every student needs to learn to the A level, because these are skills and concepts they need to succeed at work.” Elenita has taken this attitude into classes and workshops ever since. Teaching elders to use computers is one of the most fun jobs she’s done. (She is an elder herself, so no fear of condescension!)
