This class incorporates gentle Qigong exercises to nurture your life energy (or Qi), slow-moving Tai chi movements from the Yang & Chen family Tai Chi forms and instruction in connecting 7 of these movements into a short form. With regular attendance you can expect to:
- Improve your balance, coordination, core strength and the strength & flexibility of your upper & lower body.
- Become aware of the quality of your breath & any unnecessary tension you are holding during each movement. Deepening the breath and letting go of tension leads to a sense of calm, reduced discomfort & improved sleep.
- Learn correct alignment in standing & while moving to improve posture and protect joints from injury. This leads to moving with greater ease & confidence in your daily life.
The class is open to any age or level of experience in Tai Chi/Qi Gong practice. No prior experience necessary. Moderation and staying within your comfortable limit are always emphasized in each class. Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing, sneakers and bring a water bottle. If you have a health issue that may affect participation in the class, please consult your doctor before signing up.
Classes are scheduled for these dates: 3/24, 3/31, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5, 5/19
